Japan launches FSC National Forest Stewardship Standard

The new national forest stewardship standard becomes effective on 15 February 2019.

The standard has been developed by a chamber-balanced Standards Development Group using multi-stakeholder process, which included two public consultations. All Certification Bodies providing FSC FM certification in the country were involved in the standard development process. Two field tests were conducted; one in a corporate forest in Hokkaido (North Japan) and the other in group certified forest (cooperative) in West Japan. This new standard applies to all forest types.
