South Africa launches FSC national forest stewardship standard

It applied Scale, Intensity and Risk approach which allowed for the development of specific indicators suited to SLIMF (small and low-intensity managed forests) land owners/ managers. The South African forest plantations which are targeted for the certification on the basis of this standard, are owned or managed by large, medium, and small scale organizations and communities. Typical species used in these plantations include eucalyptus, pine and acacia. The scope of the new standard includes plantations.
